The research activity in
construction was set off in 1950 by establishing ICI - the Research and
Testing Institute,
and soon after, ICSC - the Scientific Research institute for Construction,
both integrated in 1957 in ICML - the Research Institute for
Construction, Building Materials and Wood Industry.
In 1958 a new organization structure
appeared, the IPCMC (Institute for Design and Research in Building and
Building Materials).
Towards the end of 1959 the
Building Research
Institute was founded, receiving the
INCERC logo, under which it
is known up to
now.
Within the present structure, INCERC coveres almost all research
activity fields for buildings except the development of building materials.
